Exploring the Timeless Beauty of 20 English Tudor Houses

Tudor-style houses may not be as common as other prominent styles, but it is quite a well-known and popular style!

While it became popular in the USA during the 1910s and 1920s, this style originated, as its name suggests, in England, precisely around the 17th and 18th centuries.

These homes were very expensive during the Depression and not everyone could get the materials required to build Tudor houses! This earned them the nickname ”Stockbroker’s Tudors

English Tudor House Characteristics

The most prominent characteristics of Tudor-style homes are steep-pitched roofs with overlapping gables in the front.

The facade is mostly covered in brick with widely spaced wooden boards with stucco or stone in between.

Almost every house has one or two brick chimneys placed so that they are noticeable.

The windows are taller than on most other houses with touches of the medieval character, like diamond-shaped or rectangular panes.

A castle-like vibe is present even in the entryway and these houses are often asymmetrical, so the entryway isn’t always in the center and the archway rounds at the top!

These houses rarely have a porch but they are often surrounded by a beautiful garden, adding to their formal curb appeal!
