I think it’s safe to say that kids and adults alike have watched Shrek and that the ogre has grown dear to all of our hearts!
I think we all marveled at the sight of his home and now you can do that in real life too!
If you were lucky enough you were able to snag a stay at Shrek’s Swamp via Airbnb!
Last year, the booking was open since October 13th for a scalding hot price of exactly 0$!
A two-night stay was included in that price, from the 27th of October to the 29th and it was able to host a maximum of three people.
What Can I Do There?
Some of the things you could do at Shrek’s humble abode include:
- ‘relax in the ambiance of ”earwax candlelight”’- as they’ve listed on Airbnb
- you can try out Shrek’s favorite parfaits
- light a campfire and talk with your friends
- go full ogre on the waffle breakfast that waits for you in the morning
Airbnb has also made a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, an NGO in Scotland that provides disadvantaged children with respite breaks from challenging home environments!
Will I Meet Shrek?
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to meet our favorite ogre (he doesn’t like visitors anyway), but you will be able to spend some time with his best pal, Donkey!
He is the one renting Shrek’s home after all!
Donkey will walk you through all of the activities listed in the Airbnb plus he will be the one arranging all of your meals and showing you around the swamp!
Booking Rules to Follow
The booking rules are listed on Airbnb and they include the following:
- having an active Airbnb profile with a good track record
- your companions must be 5+ years of age
- you have to have a government-issued ID
- when booking, you must send a full message, stating who will be accompanying you and other important details
Enjoy the Magic!
For two nights, guests were able to enjoy this magical place, thanks to Donkey who paid special attention to detail!
The plants surround the place and there are ‘beware ogre’ signs everywhere! It will make you feel like you’re an ogre as well!
The rustic interior will make you want to sit and contemplate in Shrek’s armchair.
While the outhouse isn’t the most glamorous thing out there, I guarantee you’ll remember those walks to the bathroom at night!
I am really hoping that Donkey will soon again be house-sitting for Shrek and allow us to visit this magnificent and magical place!
