The Paris Olympic Games allowed us to witness some amazing and well-deserved victories, it inspired some great memes and marked another quadrennial of our homage to the ancient festivity.
However, no one can deny it was packed with epic fails that the whole Internet can’t stop talking about.
Paris may not have given us the opening ceremony we craved, but it did create a unique chance for one lucky visitor to stay in the Musée d’Orsay.
Booking a Night in the Museum at the Airbnb
Musée d’Orsay created a one-time opportunity for a lucky guest to stay at one of the world’s finest museums.
The museum allowed guests to book a single night on the Airbnb page during the opening of the 2024 Olympic Games.
The clock room was fashioned up into a luxury bedroom that the host Mathieu Lehanneur described as “both romantic and contemporary”.
The Clock Room
The glass and steel clock above the bed offers a unique view of Paris, and the lucky guests were free to watch the ceremony from there if they so chose.
The rest of the room is decorated in a way that pays homage to the occasion, with the themes of sports, a kicking bag, and even the genuine Olympic torch adorning the wall.
As a matter of fact, the torch was designed by the host himself and he’d also included a sketchbook of the design below the torch.
Across from the bed, there’s a lounging area that’s just as contemporary and relaxing as the rest of the room.
It sports the look of an organic modern design, with a stone table and an indoor tree in the background.
The dark, shiny table is cleverly used to bring some contrast to the otherwise warm and gentle space.
True & Authentic Architecture
The wall panels as well as the Versailles parquet floor are authentic to the museum and were not changed in the least.
And when one lies on the center-piece bed and looks up, they’re greeted by a work of art vault ceiling.
Exclusive Access to the Best That Musée d’Orsay Has to Offer
From The Terrasses de Sculptures and the artistic pieces that sparked scandals in their time, to the museum’s very own balcony and roof terrace, the guest had access to all of them.
All in All and Unforgettable Experience
Musée d’Orsay is right there with the Eiffel Tower when it comes to the places one must visit in Paris.
125 years ago it was an incredible train station, and to this day all the main architectural features were preserved.
Now as a museum, it contains some of the most significant artistic works not only from France and Europe, but the world!
It’s nothing short of an incredible privilege and honor to be able not only to visit such a place but to sleep within its walls and roam it all day long.
How About the Hosting Part?
You may be wondering if the actual hosting and conditions were worth it, and they absolutely seem so.
The provided accommodation contains everything that a visitor with their plus one could need for the night: the best of French cuisine, a comfortable bedroom, one bathroom, and a whole museum.
If you wanted actual numbers, the host as well as the accommodation were rated with five stars by the guest.
Hanna, the guest, described it as “the most incredible experience of her life”. I don’t know about you, but I believe her!
