Your Gypsy Escape Awaits: Stay at a Pipi Wagon in Belgium

Your Gypsy Escape Awaits: Stay at a Pipi Wagon in Belgium

The city of Ravels in Belgium may not be as popularly visited as, say, Brussels, but it is dubbed a hidden gem of Europe.

Located in the province of Antwerp, it’s rich in both the rural landscape and urban attractions.

It’s said that the town’s industrial past and a number of abandoned factories may be especially attractive to urban explorers.

It’s in Ravels that you’ll find a unique vacation home, listed on Airbnb. A pipi wagon with a colorful interior, a large garden, and horses welcomes adventurous guests.

1. Unique Exterior

The exterior of this Airbnb home is highly authentic.

Pipi wagons used to serve as both a transportation vehicle and a living space. They’re commonly tied to the Romani people of Europe who were known to travel often.

These wagons sported various designs, from simple to intricate. The above pipi wagon is designed in a country’s style which makes it quite cozy and inviting.

2. Intricate Design

The wagon is decorated with flowers, wooden features, and even beautiful window shutters.

It’s also a functional vacation home as it’s spacious enough (10 x 3.20 m) and can receive up to four guests.

3. Private And Fenced Garden

The garden is a whole other story!

It’s packed with amenities that allow for various outdoor activities, like barbecue, sitting around a fire pit, table tennis, a hammock, and a trampoline.

The superhost, Cees, notes that the garden is safely fenced and completely private, which makes the wagon both family and pet-friendly.

4. The View

The home is surrounded by a wonderful rural landscape from all sides. You may often see horses grazing right across from the fence.

It’s even possible to rent a horse for an extra fee!

5. The Accommodation

Though there is the option to have breakfast included in the service, the wagon has a kitchen so that you may prepare your own meals.

It’s got a Queen bed, and an extendable sofa and you may request a crib if you have a baby.

The bathroom is the only space separated by the door, while the rest of the wagon’s interior is an open-plan type.

6. The Kitchen

The kitchen sports a charming, retro design.

It’s quite small but highly functional. It even includes a hood to ensure no food smells linger inside the wagon.

7. The Living and Dining Room

A dining table for four and a nice living room make for a comfortable stay.

The yellow wall panels and cozy rugs complete the homey atmosphere of the interior.

Though it’s functional, I’d recommend visiting in warmer seasons if you’re coming as more than a two-person group.

That way you’ll be able to appreciate the small interior as you’ll spend the majority of the time enjoying the outdoors and not stay cooped up inside.

8. The Bedroom

The bed section is the cutest part of the interior. It’s symbolically separated from the rest with a small platform and you may even draw the drapes for some privacy.

The cushion is set upon a built-in bed frame.

A window opens right above the pillows, allowing the guests to enjoy sunlight first thing in the morning.

9. Extra Amenities

There are quite a few extra amenities that the home provides.

You may reserve a hot tub or a Finnish sauna. It’s possible to rent a horse or a bicycle from the host.

There’s also private parking that’s included in the stay and even an electric vehicle charger!

And even though the host greets you, the check-out is completely contactless, allowing you to pack up and move on to your next adventure whenever you’re ready.
