Though I think it’s safe to say that what constitutes bold interiors is mainly subjective, there are a few general bullet points one can follow.
It’s all about strong colors, unique decor and unapologetically being yourself.
Check out the top 10 bold interiors I’ve found!
1. Flying Colors
The vibrant, high-energy kitchen is our number one because it represents a seamless blend of various fun aesthetics.
The cartoonish design is mixed with both retro and futuristic vibes.
What sets it apart the most is how effortlessly bold it is because its theme remains consistent throughout the entire room.
2. Playroom Vibe
I’m not sure whether it’s the combination of colors or the styles that make the above interior so striking.
The blend of coral, lilac, red, and green is enough to qualify any interior as bold. But let’s look at the shapes!
Rounded, geometric and overall modern shapes are dominant at the bottom part of the room, but as you look up there are Romanesque elements all across the ceiling.
3. Unique Shapes
The above living room is pretty consistent. Its style is highly modern and it’s got one theme – art.
What sets it apart are the high-shine elements, modern art pieces, and the blend of neutral and bold colors.
4. Vintage Red
The designer of the interior in question chose a theme and went for it!
The entire room looks authentic, from the cabinets, the dining chair, the decor, and down to the very floor.
It helps that the walls were painted this particular shade of red that’s present in vintage interiors.
5. Off Balance
When designing an interior, both the designer and the client look for the best ways to preserve balance. Maybe they’re willing to include one or two accent pieces that stand out, but that’s usually all.
If you were to completely forgo the balance, you’d get a bold interior such as the above one.
It combines pointedly different elements, and the most dominant part of the room is the floor because of the two striking rugs.
6. Bizzare Contrast
Black and yellow make for a more striking contrast than even black and white.
Yellow is the warmest color, while black is absolutely neutral, however, they do have one important thing in common – they’re both the colors of luxury.
7. Small But Impactful
You know what’s bold?
Cramming a bunch of outstanding furniture and decor inside a small space.
Though there’s a contrast to be found in the above interior, surprisingly it’s not the point. Instead, the point is the unapologetic maximalism despite the confined and sloping space.
8. Rawr Design
Animal prints and generally wild animal themes create a sense of adventure and exoticism in the interior.
They’re a bold choice because centering your interior design around a cheetah or tiger print is a literal hair away from being the tackiest thing ever.
In some rare instances, a talented designer is able to pull it off and end up with a stylish and chic space.
9. Art Gallery Style
There are three ways you can go about unusually spacious interiors.
One is to embrace the empty space and prioritize stylish minimalism. Another one is to implement visual borders or add actual walls to divide it.
And the third is to go nuts with wall art and create yourself a gallery interior.
The wide room allows for a lot of space between each piece of decor which is very reminiscent of an art gallery.
It also helps to leave a lot of free traffic space overall.
10. Eclecting Fever Dream
The very definition of eclectic is combining the things that are incompatible in theory.
The above interior is incompatible both in theory and reality, which only serves to make it even bolder.
To double down on the whole set-up, the designer even installed a mirror wall to reflect the whole room and make it even more puzzling.
Is it a hit or miss?
