You could go out and buy one of those fancy wall dividers that cost as much as a small vacation, but where’s the fun in that?
With some creativity and a weekend to spare, you can make your very own room divider that will not only give you privacy but also make your space look fabulous!
1. Retro Bookcase DIY
With wooden DIYs, you’ll have to do some cutting and measuring, so if you don’t have space for that, it would be best to ask someone at your local hardware store to do it for you!
And if you really want to lock in that retro vibe, we suggest going for a darker and warmer wood finish!
2. Curtain Room Divider
This might be the easiest DIY of them all! You’ll need some screws and a curtain rod, and of course, some curtains! If you’d like extra privacy, we’d go for some thicker curtains!
On the other hand, if you’d only like something to define different spaces in your room, we’d suggest some stylish sheer curtains!

This one might require some more action on your part, but it’s a fairly simple setup! Especially if your room isn’t slated, like the one in the picture!
A glass panel divider won’t provide much privacy, but the separation is there!

If you’d like a more traditional divider a simple rope divider will do the trick! Apart from being easily made, they’re also easy to find at thrift shops and flea markets!
However, the ones being sold could easily be bent out of shape, so either make one or give the old one some love!

This one might be a nice pre-bedtime project to work on! Sit down, relax, and get your thick yarn!
You can even finger-weave this room divider, you won’t need any special equipment! Simply get some thick yarn from your local arts and crafts store and enjoy a cozy night in!

A bookcase room divider is probably the best room divider there is! It’s practical and stylish at the same time!
There are many ways to go about it, and one of them is creating a boxy bookcase room divider! All the tools and materials can be found at your local hardware store!
7. DIY Barn Door
A barn door room divider is for all of you rocking that rustic, farmhouse vibe! You can always repurpose an old barn door and secure it so it can stand on its own!
Or, you can make it from freshly cut wood and assemble the pieces! This second option will require some wood stain as well!
8. Plant Room Divider
A plant room divider can also be an easy project and the best part is, it’s versatile! You can opt to get a clothing rack and hang your plants there, as a first option!

12. Wooden Slats Divider
This DIY project comes right after the curtains, depending on the easiness! You’ll just need to get the slats cut depending on the height of the room!

Frame some of your favorite paintings and get some string! You’ll need a wooden frame whose size depends on the number of pictures you’d like to hang up!

This divider might be harder to achieve, but it’s definitely worth it in the end! You’ll need to do plenty of drilling and assembling!
