Your host, Lucious – yes, fellow gladiator – offers the opportunity to visit the legendary Colosseum at night, choose your armor, and test your arm’s strength against the others.

1. In Honor of the Gladiator II
We have the production of Gladiator II to thank for the event. It’s another glorious story of a brave underdog defeating corruption.
The movie has an incredible cast, like Denzel Washington, Paul Mescal, and the universally beloved Pedro Pascal.
Still, I think I can speak for the majority of us when I say that the real selling point of the event is the original Gladiator, starring Russel Crowe.
2. An Unforgettable Interactive Event
This isn’t your typical fan meet-up where you get to see other people do great things. Oh, no. If you want greatness, you’ll have to obtain it for yourself!
From the description on the Airbnb page, I gathered that the event is supposed to be similar to LARPing.
The chosen participants are instructed to come to the Colosseum after sunset where the patron will greet them and lead them through a designated entrance.
After all, gladiators don’t enter the Colosseum through the main gate!
3. Experience the Colosseum at Night
The legendary landmark of Rome is locked at night, no exception. Though, this is a different story.
The aforementioned patron will lead the participants to the hypogeum. It’s the underground chamber where gladiators prepare for battle.
You get to immerse yourself fully in the historical context and feel as though you’ve traveled through time.
The Colosseum is lit solely by torches and candles, in order to make the entire experience as authentic as possible.
You’ll feel like you’re in the dark ages as you’re being led through the labyrinthine underground of the Colosseum.
4. Choose Appropriate Armor
There are various types of gladiators, as you know, and each type comes with a specific armor.
The choice is yours. Are you murmillo, thraex, provocator, retiarius, or contrarete?
Choose well, it may cost you your victory!
5. Pick Your Colors
Choose the shield that best suits your needs.
Try out different shapes and sizes – don’t just go for the best-looking one!
6. Fight!
This part is what it’s all about!
The participants will dorn their armor, choose their weapons and shields, and wait.
While awaiting your turn, you get to watch as fellow gladiators battle, learn from their mistakes, and pick up their tricks.
When it’s your turn, you’ll get to test the strength of your arm and experience victory or defeat!
Though the Airbnb description doesn’t say, we can assume that safety precautions were taken. The weapons are clearly dull and a referee oversees each duel.
7. Immerse Yourself In the Gladiator Experience
There’s no sleeping accommodation in the Colosseum, and you’ll be able to stay only until the event ends.
But there is food, prepared, chosen, and served in an authentic way.
Grapes, pomegranates, almonds, and walnuts will be served, to make sure the participants aren’t starving, but also not allowing them to overeat.
You need to be focused and sharp, gluttony isn’t the gladiator way!
