Throughout the years the cathedral has been modified and cleaned and in 2019, it suffered a fire that caused serious damage. It has been closed for five years, but it is set to reopen in December 2024.

Standing at a towering 515 ft (157 m), it is the tallest double-tower church in the world, the second tallest in Europe, and the third tallest in the world!
